Jared Soto is a committed advocate for economic and community development, bringing a wealth of experience in social services and municipal leadership to his role as Economic Development Specialist. With a strong foundation in psychology and a deep understanding of the unique challenges facing Carbon County, Jared is dedicated to fostering initiatives that enhance both economic vitality and quality of life for local residents.
A graduate of Panther Valley High School, Jared holds a B.S. in Psychology: Business Option from Pennsylvania State University and an M.S. in Psychology from Grand Canyon University. Over his 20-year career, he has worked in social services as a caseworker, psychiatric rehabilitation supervisor, mental health therapist, and social worker for the Carbon County Public Defenderās Office. His extensive experience working directly with individuals and families has given him invaluable insight into the needs of the community, which he now channels into economic and workforce development strategies.
Jared has been a dedicated community leader, serving on Lansford Borough Council, and as Council President from 2018-2019, where he played an instrumental role in municipal administration, code enforcement, zoning, and parks and recreation initiatives.Ā Currently, he serves as a key member of the Panther Valley Blueprint Community Team, a statewide initiative supported by FHLBank-Pittsburgh. As chair of the Trails-History-Recreation-Tourism subcommittee, he collaborates with local and state agencies to expand recreational tourism, enhance public health, and drive economic growth in the region. He is also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 123, supporting veterans' initiatives and community events like the Carbon County Veterans Day Parade.
Outside of work, Jared enjoys hiking, biking, and swimming at the D&L Trail and Mauch Chunk Lake. A musician and sports enthusiast, he plays bass guitar and participates in a slow-pitch softball league. A devoted baseball fan, he has been a partial season ticket holder for the Philadelphia Phillies since 2008 (Go Phils).
With his deep community ties and extensive experience, Jared brings a unique perspective to economic development efforts in Carbon County. His commitment to strengthening local businesses, enhancing recreational and tourism opportunities, and fostering sustainable growth makes him a valuable asset to the region and our organization.
